Phenotype: | - |
Properties: | The non-pathogenic bacterium Mycobacterium smegmatis is widely used as a near-native expression host for the purification of Mycobacterium tuberculosis proteins. To improve purification efficiency and yield of polyhistidine-tagged mycobacterial target proteins, the GroEL1ΔC mutant was created by removing the coding sequence for the histidine-rich C-terminus. |
Further information: | There is a genome sequence of the parental strain Mycobacterium smegmatis MC2 155 available at Genbank (Accession number: NC_008596.1). |
